Plot summary
Terry Gionoffrio dances in a Broadway show in New York City until a bad ankle injury ends her performance. Auditions after that go nowhere, and people know her as the girl who fell. She follows Alan Marchand, a Broadway producer, to the Bramford apartment building, where her painkillers leave her sick. Minnie and Roman Castevet, an older couple who live there, take an interest in her and offer her a place to stay with no rent. While unpacking, she finds a jazz shoe with Joan Cebulski's name written on it.
