Did you know?!Facts and trivia about American Dreamer (1984)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- JoBeth Williams got the lead only after the project had been envisioned for Goldie Hawn, then offered around to Dolly Parton, Jill Clayburgh, and Mary Steenburgen; Williams herself turned down a supporting role in Robert Redford's The Natural to take it instead.
- Director Rick Rosenthal later said American Dreamer tested as Warner Brothers' highest-testing movie in eight years, but the studio could not figure out how to market it and gave it a poster he compared to a 1970s tax-shelter film.
