Tom Conti

Tom Conti is a Scottish actor whose career spans stage, film and television. Born in Paisley, he started with the Dundee Repertory in 1959. He won a Tony Award and a Laurence Olivier Award for Whose Life Is It Anyway? on Broadway and in the West End in 1978 and 1979, and later directed the play Last Licks on Broadway. On screen he earned an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe nomination for Reuben, Reuben (1983). His films include The Duellists (1977), Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (1983), American Dreamer (1984), The Quick and the Dead (1987), Shirley Valentine (1989), The Tempest (2010) and Oppenheimer (2023), in which he played Albert Einstein. He also appeared on television in The Glittering Prizes, The Norman Conquests, Friends and Miranda, and published a novel, The Doctor, in 2004.
