Plot summary
Charlie Driggs is a conventional New York City investment banker. He walks out on a diner check, and a woman with a brunette bob who gives her name as Lulu catches up with him and offers him a ride. Instead she heads for New Jersey, tosses his beeper from the moving car and, while he phones his office, robs a liquor store without his knowledge. Charlie says his cash is for a Christmas club account, but Lulu talks him into paying for a motel room, where Lulu handcuffs him to the bed. She drives on to her Pennsylvania hometown, tells him her real name is Audrey, presents him to her mother Peaches as her husband and takes him to her high school reunion, where her ex-convict husband Ray Sinclair turns up.
