Did you know?!Facts and trivia about All the Pretty Horses (2000)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Director Billy Bob Thornton's cut ran three hours and forty minutes, and when he refused to trim it, studio chief Harvey Weinstein forced the runtime down to under two hours and replaced Daniel Lanois's original score with music by Marty Stuart.
- Star Matt Damon publicly attacked Weinstein's marketing, saying the studio built a trailer around him and Penélope Cruz skinny-dipping to a Bono song and used a tagline about untamable passions, even though the film is actually about unrequited love being crushed by circumstance.
- Thornton has kept his own two-hour-forty-two-minute director's cut on VHS but refuses to release it publicly, out of respect for composer Daniel Lanois, who owns the rights to the rejected original score.
