Plot summary
Ray Santilli runs a market stall in London, where he sells Elvis memorabilia. In 1995 he and his friend Gary Shoefield travel to the United States to look for more of it. Harvey, who once worked as a cameraman for the US Army, sells them black and white silent footage of Elvis on stage, and then makes a second offer: a 1947 film of an autopsy, said to show an alien killed in a crash at Roswell, New Mexico, for $30,000. Back in England, Ray persuades Laszlo Voros, a Hungarian art and drug dealer with a fixation on crop circles, to provide the money, and collects the footage from Harvey. Humidity and heat have left it unwatchable. To keep Voros from turning on them, the two decide to shoot a replacement, working from what Ray remembers of the original.
