Plot summary
Wendell Mays owns the oil refinery beside a suburban town, and he plans to burn the plant down for the insurance money. Andrew Thomas is the agent sent to record the violations at the refinery, and his brother Jack is a firefighter. Dr. Jennifer Lewis, Jack's ex-girlfriend, works at the local hospital and treats a pregnant woman, Mindi Hunter, against instructions from her boss Vivian Sims. When a boy named Barry accidentally starts a fire at his home, chief Sam Davis sends Jack's team to rescue Barry and his mother, Gwen, and Jack is injured in the rescue. The planned explosion at the refinery injures Andrew, and Curt Peters and Rick Woods take him to the hospital. The fire spreads toward the city and the hospital.
