Plot summary
Christmas finds Britta Rinegelt unhappy at Highland, the school she has just joined. Her sadness calls up Holly Boy, the spirit of the holiday, rousing him from the deep sleep the dark elf King Otto imposed on him. With Holly Boy awake, two struggles begin at once. Britta has to face the school's Christmas pageant, and Holly Boy has to stand against King Otto's forces. To save their lives, the school and the sacred forest, each of them has to come through a battle, one on earth and one beyond it, with the season itself and what it stands for at stake.
