A Dozen Summers (2015) on Netflix

Plot summary

Maisie and Daisy McCormack are twelve years old and trying to make sense of why grown-ups behave so oddly so often. When the sisters scare off the Narrator of a children's adventure story, they seize the film for themselves and narrate their own lives instead. At home are their mother Jacqueline, a struggling model with her own ideas about parenting, and their father Henry, a writer who has given up more than his daughters know. At school there are bullies to deal with and first crushes: Matty Archer for Maisie, and Samuel, Daisy's best friend, for Daisy. Between Jacqueline's bad dates and the odd werewolf and vampire, the girls keep talking, aware that the story they interrupted is waiting to take over again.
