Plot summary
Darius Lefaux is a detective whose career has fallen apart and whose romantic life is empty, with the cantankerous old woman next door as his only real human connection. Then a murder case arrives, and the body he is summoned to view is his own. Fragments of memories he cannot place begin to haunt him, and more duplicates of him turn up, one of them set on killing him. Darius sets out to track the duplicate down before it reaches him. An old ally of his, John Luka, an out-of-work juggler, hears that his friend is in trouble and sets out to help.
