Edoardo Ballerini

Biography

Edoardo Ballerini is an American actor, narrator, writer, and director who grew up between New York City and Milan. He took acting classes at HB Studio and the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute before his first professional screen role on Law and Order in 1995. After small parts in I Shot Andy Warhol and The Pallbearer (1996), he starred in The Pest (1997), Looking for an Echo (2000), and Romeo Must Die (2000), and he also appeared in The Last Days of Disco (1998). He played the hotheaded chef in Dinner Rush (2000), then wrote, directed, produced, and starred in the short Good Night Valentino, which premiered at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival. On television he was Corky Caporale in The Sopranos and Ignacious D'Alessio in Boardwalk Empire. Later films include Experimenter (2015) and First We Take Brooklyn (2018). He has twice won the Audie Award for best male narrator and has received Earphones Awards from AudioFile magazine.

Big break
Beautiful Ruins (2012) marked a turning point for Ballerini, who had recorded just a few books beforehand; the audiobook's success then launched his career in that field.
Getting ready for a role
Ballerini recorded Karl Ove Knausgaard's six-volume autobiographical work My Struggle, which runs 135 hours. He calls it his most ambitious project, and it took him 200 hours across five years to finish.

Ballerini was 10 when he first appeared on stage professionally, at New York's Theater for the New City, in Mario Prosperi's "Uncle Mario."
