Plot summary
Ally Mash is sixteen and the top junior tennis player in the country, trained by her father, a former Open champion who fills her days and disapproves of anything that might distract her, including her best friend Rebecca. At a tournament she faces her Russian rival Katina Upranova and hurts her ankle, forfeiting the match, after which her father brings in physical and mental therapists. Farrell Gambles, an amateur player she brushed off, asks her to coach him for a tournament he needs to win to afford college. She says no until he helps her out at the mall. She trains him hard, and tells him about the ordinary teenage things she has missed, so he stages a prom for her.
