Plot summary
At a Piggly Wiggly in Fraziers Bottom, West Virginia, Rosalee Futch works with Cathy Feely and Pete Monash. They watch a film starring the movie star Tad Hamilton. Tad's agent and manager, both named Richard Levy, organize a contest for a date with Tad, with the money going to Save the Children, to repair his public image. Rosalee finds the advertisement, and the store's customers, Cathy, and a reluctant Pete help her raise the hundred-dollar fee. She wins, a news crew visits her home, and Pete, who is secretly in love with her, takes her to the airport.
