Plot summary
In his castle, Parsifal Katzenellenbogen works on a laser skywriter, the invention he hopes will clear the debts piling up around him. His wife Elba entertains a stream of odd visitors there. Parsifal invites a string of businessmen to the castle, hoping one of them will buy the device, among them the gangster Henry Board II, who arrives with the one-time movie star Montague Chippendale, the Scotsman Mackintosh and the gypsy Klingsor. He plays the generous host and courts each of his visitors in turn, since the machine will pay off what he owes only if one of them buys it.
