Plot summary
Zoe Stevenson, a London filmmaker, documents the lives of her British-Pakistani next-door neighbors, focusing on her childhood best friend Kazim Khan. Kaz has agreed to an arranged marriage to please his parents and argues that such matches work. A matchmaker, Mo, sets up a video introduction. Kaz takes a liking to Maymouna, a young woman in Pakistan, while she seems hesitant. Once both families consent, Kaz prepares to travel to Lahore for the wedding. Zoe, who is documenting the process, goes with them, learning about Pakistani customs and traditions. Her own mother keeps pressing her about finding a suitable man, and Zoe hopes the journey will show her whether a relationship chosen by parents can succeed. In Pakistan, she follows Kaz as he prepares for the ceremony and asks him about his feelings for Maymouna.
