Plot summary
Meg is an OB/GYN who wants neither a partner nor a baby of her own. Her sister Alice, newly single after leaving her college boyfriend Josh, comes to New York City to live with her and takes a job as a paralegal. At the office Alice meets Robin, an Australian who parties hard and takes one-night stands as they come. Tom tends bar and likes the bachelor life, sleeping with a string of women, Alice among them. Lucy comes into his bar to use the Internet for free and works the dating sites; she is holding out for the one. She also volunteers at a bookstore, reading to children.

- The film rights to the Liz Tuccillo novel were purchased in 2008, the same year the book was published. Drew Barrymore was initially attached to direct, but she was replaced in 2013 by Christian Ditter.
- Dan Stevens was also cast in the film, but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts in favour of Beauty and the Beast.
