Plot summary
On Thanksgiving, four households in Los Angeles's Fairfax district cook the holiday meal at the same time. Ruth and Herb Seelig greet their daughter Rachel and Rachel's girlfriend Carla; Bea, an elderly guest, keeps asking Rachel about her romantic prospects, unaware of the couple. Lizzy Avila and Javier, her husband, live apart, and when their son Tony meets his father at the grocery store he invites him to the family dinner; Lizzy's attempt to take the invitation back does not reach Javier. Audrey and Ron Williams intend to hide their household's troubles from Ron's mother, Grace. Trinh and Duc Nguyen think their oldest son Jimmy is at college for midterms, while he is nearby with his girlfriend's family.
