- The song "Trail of the Lonesome Pine" from the film was released as a single in Britain in 1975, backed by "Honolulu Baby" from Sons of the Desert, and reached number 2 in the British charts.
- Ken Russell used the film's dance routine: his 1968 BBC biopic of Frederick Delius, "Song of Summer", opens with Eric Fenby (Christopher Gable) playing cinema organ to a silent showing of the "Commence to Dancin'" episode, but the clip was cut from the 2001 DVD when permission could not be obtained.
- When Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy sing "Trail of the Lonesome Pine" in the film, a few lines were actually performed by Chill Wills and Rosina Lawrence, with Laurel lip-synching them for comedic effect.
