Rosina Lawrence

Rosina Lawrence was a British-Canadian singer and actress who worked in Hollywood during the 1920s and 1930s. Born in Westboro, she grew up in California after her family moved there, and dancing first brought her into films as a double and stand-in for Sally Eilers. Her screen debut came in A Lady of Quality in 1924, and in 1935 she signed with Twentieth Century-Fox, where her best-known part was the ingenue in Charlie Chan's Secret (1935). She then joined the Hal Roach studio full-time, appearing with Charley Chase, Our Gang, Patsy Kelly, Jack Haley and Laurel and Hardy, and her singing was showcased in Way Out West (1937). The Hollywood Press Photographers Association counted her among ten Flashlighters' Starlets in 1936. Her last film role was in Lost, a 1972 Italian comedy, playing an American film star who creates a sensation in a small Italian town.
