Plot summary
Sarah stands trial for her stepfather's murder, and her account of the burning wax museum and its reanimated figures fails to convince the jury. Mark tries to back her up from the gallery and is thrown out of the courthouse. At the home of the late Sir Wilfred they find a film reel in which he speaks of his adventures with Mark's grandfather and of the artifacts the two men gathered. A switch inside a chessboard opens a hidden room, and there they discover Solomon's Locket, a compass-like device that angels of light and dark use to cross into Kartagra, a plane holding worlds drawn from stories where good and evil wage a cosmic war. Mark hopes to carry back evidence of the reanimated dead for the trial.

- Many of the anachronisms in the movie were put there on purpose, as a type of Easter egg for the fans rather than as mistakes.
