Plot summary
At nineteen, Amberley Snyder races rodeo barrels at a national level, and her days in Utah revolve around training her horse, Power. She is on her way to Denver when she loses control of her truck; ejected from the vehicle, she strikes a fence pole and is left a paraplegic. Doctors tell her she will need a wheelchair for the rest of her life, and a six-week rehabilitation program follows. Despondent at first, she takes her anger out on her mother, Tina, believing she can no longer do what she once did, before she begins working to find strength and balance in her upper body.
