Plot summary
Nick, Ramon and Burke are factory co-workers in New York City who run a secret vigilante group, with quiet support from residents of their neighborhood. Eddie Marino works alongside them and comes home to his wife, Vickie, and their young son, Scott. Vickie intervenes when a gas station attendant is threatened by Frederico 'Rico' Melendez, who leads a street gang called the Headhunters. Police cars surround Eddie's house when he gets home from work: Vickie has been attacked and Scott is dead. Detective Russo tells Eddie the guilty parties are known and sends him to Assistant District Attorney Mary Fletcher, who reports that Rico is under arrest. Nick describes a tragedy that struck his own family and tells Eddie to carry a gun; Eddie refuses, arguing that more violence only brings anarchy.
