Plot summary
Jimmy Kowalski lives in Idaho, where he restores cars and drives deliveries for a shop. His wife Raphinia's medical bills are growing, so he takes a run to New Mexico with a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner, then a second job, hauling a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T toward Salt Lake City. On that trip he hears that her pregnancy, already difficult, has gone badly wrong. He turns the car around for Idaho and keeps going when troopers flag him for speeding. A Utah sheriff and an FBI agent named Warren Taft give chase. Taft, eager for a win for his bureau after Ruby Ridge and Waco, believes Kowalski is hauling drugs or acting as a domestic terrorist. A radio host known as The Voice follows the run on the air.
