Plot summary
Late at night, Tom Cooper breaks into his ex-wife's house, kills her and her boyfriend, and sets the house on fire. The next morning, Rachel Flynn, newly divorced, is driving her son Kyle to school in rush hour traffic when a client fires her by phone. A pickup truck sits still at a green light, so she honks, and the driver, Tom, pulls up beside her. He apologizes for blocking her way and asks her to apologize in return, saying people should say sorry for whatever they do wrong. Rachel answers that she has done nothing to apologize for.
