Plot summary
Yuri Boyka was once the feared prison fighter, until George "Iceman" Chambers beat him, and the knee injury from that fight has left him scrubbing toilets in a Russian prison. Word reaches him of the Prison Spetz Competition, an inter-prison tournament whose winner is promised early release. Boyka shaves off his long hair and beard, trains the bad knee in private, and challenges the reigning champion, Vladimir Sykov, for the Russian place. At Gorgon prison in Georgia he joins fighters from several countries and meets Warden Kuss, whose men put them to work in the quarry, while the Colombian Raul "Dolor" Quiñones gets special treatment. Boyka's first clash is with the American Jericho "Turbo" Jones.
