Plot summary
A has spent years making films away from Greece. He returns for a showing of an earlier work of his, and the occasion is broken up by a local ideological conflict, so he leaves town by taxi. In the street a woman from his past passes him. His errand is a search for three undeveloped reels shot by the Manaki brothers, footage that may predate The Weavers, the film believed to be the first made in the Balkans. At the Albanian border he shares a taxi with an old woman going to visit a sister she has not seen in forty-five years; along the road crowds of Albanians wait for a chance to cross into Greece. On a train he meets Kali, who tells him the reels are not held in the Skopje archive.
