Plot summary
A military camp in Evros prepares for a Christmas reception under the Greek junta, and its commander, Manolis Longos, cancels all leave for the soldiers until everything is ready. Longos brings the same discipline into his home, where his wife Zoe must ask his permission to leave, even for a walk with their young daughter. Lieutenant Stefanos Karamanidis is in love with Zoe and wants to ask her to dance at the holiday. She does not dance herself but admires those who take on the tango. Karamanidis orders one of his soldiers, Lazaros Lazarou, to come to his office at night and teach him the steps, and Lazarou, who is quietly in love with the lieutenant, keeps the meetings secret.
