Plot summary

Maude is a teenager, and in one week her life comes apart. She is suspended from school, her best friend leaves her stranded, and the boy she loved breaks things off with her. Her grandmother dies and leaves her an enormous amount of money. The inheritance comes with one condition: Maude has to prove by her eighteenth birthday that she knows what she wants from her life. That birthday is close at hand. She is writing a novel and lacks the inspiration to keep at it. If she cannot show that she knows her own mind, the money is lost.
