Plot summary
The Flying Scotsman, Gordon's brother, is to compete at the Great Railway Show, a set of rail contests held on the mainland, and he urges Thomas to try entering too. Every engine on Sodor wants a place, and Thomas worries that Sir Topham Hatt will not pick him. He suggests being made a streamliner, but Sir Topham Hatt chooses Gordon for that instead, and his idea of a repaint for the best decorated engine goes to James and Emily. A rail ferry docks at Brendam Docks by mistake, bringing competitors for the show, and Ashima, a decorated tank engine from India, bumps Thomas in her rush and saves him from falling into the water. Ashima is stranded and lost, and Thomas is jealous to find her carrying out the passenger run he had left.
