Plot summary
Three months after a viral outbreak wiped out almost all of the world's population and turned its victims into flesh-eating living dead, a band of soldiers and civilians has taken refuge at a rural military barracks in the UK. Life inside the compound is harsh, and hope arrives in a transmission from a military base on the coast that describes sanctuary in another part of Europe. When the barracks is overrun, the surviving troops and civilians, among them Maddox, Leeann, Jonesy and Kayne, set out for the coast to learn the truth behind the message. The route crosses a ruined landscape where the living dead roam in vast numbers and armed bandits impose their own rule.
