Plot summary
Private investigator Walter Hale dies in Hawaii in an apparent hit and run. His two estranged sons learn of it: James, a US Navy SEAL, and his half-brother Jonny, a suspended police detective. Thugs from the yakuza attack Jonny at his home in Oklahoma, convinced Walter had sent him a package. Jonny heads to Hawaii for the funeral and to find out how his father died. There he reunites with James, meeting Leila, James's wife, and their children. Their cousin Nani, who works for Governor Peter Mahoe, arrives. The brothers investigate separately and both reach Walter's ransacked apartment.

- David Leitch was once set to direct the film and locations were scouted in Hawaii, but that version of the project fell through because of his scheduling commitments to The Fall Guy; in August 2023 Ángel Manuel Soto came onboard to direct instead.
- The film was the final acting role of David Hekili Kenui Bell, who died on June 12, 2025. It was only his second film, after his debut in the live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch, which starred his fellow cast member Maia Kealoha.
