Plot summary
Pippa and Thomas have just settled into their first place together in Montreal, and the windows look across at a photographer who shoots a woman in his studio. The two watch the couple have sex and jokingly name them Margot and Brent. Thomas falls asleep early one night, leaving Pippa frustrated. Her boss at the optician's office where she trains gives her a bird feeder, and she buys binoculars so they can keep looking. They often catch Brent with models while Margot is away. Thomas shows her how a laser pointer bounced off a reflective surface can pick up what is said in another room. When the neighbors throw a Halloween costume party, Pippa and Thomas go in as guests, and Pippa hides a mirror in the apartment.
