Plot summary
Fontaine Khaled lives in London, married to Benjamin, a wealthy Arab businessman. She uses his money to fund a lavish party lifestyle and to operate her own nightclub, The Hobo. She brings in Tony Blake, a good-looking man, to run the club. However, it is made clear from the start that Tony will keep his position only if he continues to meet Fontaine's demanding sexual needs.

- In the 1980s Joan Collins sued Brent-Walker Productions at London's High Court over royalties, alleging fraud and breach of contract; in February 1986 she accepted £147,233 as an interim settlement, and the company agreed only if she dropped the fraud and conspiracy claims.
- Joan Collins said that she and her co-star Sue Lloyd were both drunk while the orgy scene in The Stud was being filmed.
- The Stud and its sequel The Bitch revived Joan Collins's career and led to her being cast as Alexis Colby in Dynasty, though co-star Oliver Tobias later said the film typecast him and ruined his career.
- Before Oliver Tobias was cast as Tony in The Stud, the part was offered to David Essex, who turned it down.
