Plot summary
Leo Kroll is a lab technician who collects dolls and is fixated on his possessive mother, now in the hospital after a heart attack. Nurses have been killed, and the police question Leo before releasing him. Clara Thomas attends his mother at the hospital. At an amusement park stall, Leo wins a doll from Tally Raymond and becomes enamored of her; her colleague Barbara Wells works the same stall.

- Victor Buono clashed with director Burt Topper on the set: he insisted on changes to scenes he found too suggestive, refused to shoot a scene in which Diane Sayer was to be nude, and walked off the set for a day after struggling to hit his marks.
- The film was drawn from the Boston Strangler, who murdered several women in the 1960s, and it went into production while police were still trying to solve those killings.
