Plot summary
Arthur Brennan is an adjunct physics professor who brings a sealed package with him to Aokigahara, the forest in Japan known as a suicide spot, and takes an overdose of drugs there. Takumi Nakamura entered the same forest two days earlier and cut his wrists after a demotion at work, then changed his mind when he thought of his wife and daughter, but he has not been able to find the trail back. Arthur offers to help, and both men lose their way among the trees. To keep their minds busy, the two men share stories from their own lives.
