Plot summary
Raynor and Moth Winn lose their farm and home after they put money into a friend's business venture, even though they bring evidence that could have kept them. Moth has been diagnosed with corticobasal degeneration. Their only income is forty pounds a week in Working Tax Credit, so the couple set off on a long walk along the South West Coast Path, following Paddy Dillon's guidebook. The route runs from Minehead through the southwest counties to Poole. Some of the people they meet treat them with scorn, others offer help. Raynor and Moth walk on, carrying the shame of having no home.
