Plot summary
In Da Nang, the assassin Moody Dutton comes upon a girl named Anna, alive after a gang has killed the people around her. He takes her in and raises her as his apprentice and, in time, his adopted daughter. Thirty years on she works as a contract killer and hides behind a London shop that deals in rare books. Back from a job in Romania, she visits the ailing Moody at his manor, and he shows her the headquarters he keeps under a barn. For his seventieth birthday she gives him a Flying V guitar that once belonged to Albert King. Moody asks her to trace a man named Lucas Hayes. Anna puts her contact Benny on the trail, and a stranger, Michael Rembrandt, walks into the shop.
