Plot summary
Whit Lacey's gang chases a load of ore from Eben Martin's mine, and Martin takes his complaints to Sheriff Sam Borden. Borden instead comes upon John Drum in a general store and moves to arrest him. Drum shoots Borden in view of the storekeeper and two saloon dancers, Lin Connor and Julie Ann McCabe, and rides out of town on a horse taken from the stables, which belongs to McCabe. A posse chases him into the hills, where a Sioux war party attacks him. Outlaw Whit Lacey and his companion Indian Eddie happen by and help drive the warriors off, and Lacey suggests that he and Drum work together.
