The Missing Corpse (1945) on Netflix

Plot summary

Henry Kruger publishes The Tribune, and at home his wife and children pay him no attention. The rival Daily Argus puts a photograph of his daughter Phyllis on its front page, so Kruger goes to the office of its publisher, Andy McDonald, and warns him that another scandal about the family will cost him his life. Ex-convict "Slippery" Joe Clary overhears the threat. On the advice of his chauffeur Hogan, Kruger takes a long-postponed vacation and drives to his hunting lodge. There he opens the car's trunk and finds McDonald's body inside.
