Plot summary
The Geste family owns a sapphire that more than one person wants. Sir Hector Geste has no children, so he adopts an heir, and the arrangement brings two boys into his house: Beau, dignified and aristocratic, and his identical twin Digby, awkward and clumsy. Beau and Digby also have a sister, Isabel. Flavia, Sir Hector's new wife, is hungry for money, and Sergeant Markov of the French Foreign Legion, a brutal officer, has heard about the jewel one of the boys carries. When the sapphire goes missing, Beau and Digby sign up for the Legion and end up in the Sahara under Markov's command.

- After Marty Feldman delivered his cut of The Last Remake of Beau Geste, Universal sent him on a two-week "working vacation" and recut the film, having John Morris compose a new score. - Marty Feldman said in his posthumously published autobiography, eyE Marty, that when he first suggested The Last Remake of Beau Geste to Universal he was joking and thinking of the wrong Foreign Legion film: the one he had in mind was The Four Feathers.
- The shoot of The Last Remake of Beau Geste was plagued by excessive rain in Madrid, and Marty Feldman fell ill with chicken pox, so production was suspended while he went away to recover.
