Plot summary
In 2017, Royal Air Force pilot Kate Sinclair and her weapons systems operator, Terry Johnson, are shot down over Afghanistan. Insurgents kill Johnson and chase Sinclair, who cannot call for help; she takes shelter in a deserted Soviet bunker and they come in after her. Creatures with claws break out of stasis inside, kill the insurgents, and wound Sinclair, who gets out. A group of American soldiers in a Humvee finds her and carries her to a small outpost, where she is treated and describes the bunker to Major Roy Finch. Finch contacts his superiors. That night, the creatures attack the outpost.
