Plot summary
Will is at university in Bristol and Simon studies in Sheffield. Neil has a job at a bank, and Jay is spending a gap year in Australia. When Jay writes to say that he works as a DJ in a Sydney club and has a mansion, Neil and Simon come to see Will and the three of them decide to fly out. In Sydney they find that Jay's stories do not match: he cleans the club's toilets and sleeps in a tent at the home of his uncle Bryan. At the club Will runs into Katie, a former classmate from his private school who is backpacking, and she asks him to come with her to Byron Bay. Simon tries to break up with his girlfriend Lucy by Skype from Bryan's house.

- Daisy Ridley originally appeared in the film's opening scene but was cut from the final version because she was too busy filming Star Wars: The Force Awakens to return for reshoots.
- During the remote Outback shoot the Australian crew kept two doctors and 40 litres of IV fluid on standby, but the only time one was actually called was when James Buckley believed he was having a heart attack, which turned out to be indigestion from chips and lager.
- Media outlets blamed the film's toilet-slide gag for a real craze of people deliberately defecating in swimming pools to disgust other swimmers, a prank that became known as "logging" or "Code Brown."
- Co-writer Iain Morris based the Australia setting on his own time as a high school exchange student on the Gold Coast, which he described as "a place where people go to get drunk, pick some fruit and get drunk again."
