James Buckley
Biography
James Buckley is an English actor, comedian and musician who began on the stage as a child, playing Clarence in the West End musical Whistle Down the Wind at eleven and Gavroche in Les Misérables a year later. Born in Croydon and raised in Dagenham, he moved into television in 2001 and took small parts in series including Teachers and The Bill. The role of Jay Cartwright in the E4 sitcom The Inbetweeners made his name and brought him three nominations, among them a BAFTA TV Award nod for Best Male Comedy Performance. He played Jay again in The Inbetweeners Movie (2011) and The Inbetweeners 2 (2014), and his films include Charlie Countryman (2013), The Pyramid (2014) and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping (2016). On television he was the young Del Boy in Rock & Chips and took the lead in the comedy-fantasy series Zapped.

In the pilot for The Inbetweeners, titled Baggy Trousers, Buckley played Neil rather than the Jay Cartwright role that made him famous.

Buckley's first turn as director came in 2012, on a music video for the song Every Time We Fight, made for the Milk, a band from Essex.
