Plot summary
An anthology of three stop-motion chapters, each set in the same house in a different era. In the late 19th century, Mabel, her parents Raymond and Penny, and her baby sister Isobel have almost nothing, until a mysterious architect builds the family an opulent house at no cost. In the early 21st century, a developer in a rodent city, having let his whole crew go, works to fix up the house to sell it, and a strange couple takes an interest in the place. In a flooded world of felines, Rosa refuses to leave the home she grew up in, even as the water rises and her tenants, Elias and Jen, pay no rent.

- Almost all of the stop-motion in The House was shot "in camera" with no greenscreen or digital compositing; the only exceptions were the Busby Berkeley-style dance number in the second segment and the mist and water effects in the third, and each segment took more than 20 weeks to make.
- Marc James Roels said his and Emma de Swaef's opening segment came from wanting to tell the story of the house before there was a house, and from his reading of Richard McGuire's graphic novel Here, which shows one corner of the world changing across millennia, from farmland and Native American land to dinosaurs.
- The special began at a meeting at producer Charlotte Bavasso's London home, where the four directors came up with the idea of a house in which different things happen in different times, and agreed each would make their own separate chapter while still keeping connections to each other.
