Plot summary
New York is where William Harding, a twenty-year-old Texan, hopes to make it as an actor. He falls for Sarah, an aspiring singer and songwriter, and this is the first romance of his life. The relationship has its good stretches and its bad ones, and the ups and downs leave William looking hard at himself. That means looking at his mother, Jesse, and at his father, Vince, from whom he is estranged.
