Plot summary
Eight months after an incident on duty, LAPD officer Joe Baylor is working a 911 dispatch desk at night and waiting on a court hearing. A call comes in from Emily Lighton, who says she has been abducted and is traveling in a white van; she is cut off before she can say more. Joe passes what he has to the California Highway Patrol, which has no plate number and cannot find the van. He calls Emily's home and reaches her six-year-old daughter Abby, who says her mother drove off with her father, Henry Fisher. Abby gives him Henry's cell number, and from it Joe obtains the van's plate.
