Trailer

Plot summary

In a small Alabama town in the 1930s, the Talbo sisters take in Collin Fenwick after his mother dies. Verena runs a business and much of the town answers to her, while Dolly is gentler and eccentric, known locally for a tonic she makes. Collin loses his father as well, becomes acquainted with the town's eccentrics, among them Amos Legrand the gossiping barber, and grows close to Dolly and to Catherine Creek, the housekeeper. Verena wants to sell the tonic, and Dolly, Collin and Catherine flee to a tree house in the woods.
