Plot summary
Henry Hayes, a crime researcher, is known for a relentless perfectionism that the people around him sometimes kid him about. Away from work he keeps to himself, and little is known about his social life. Paula Rainer, a gold-digger, has been stringing him along. When he finds out, anger gets the better of him and she is killed. His answer is to stage the crime again on the television program he works for, turning the killing into an episode of the series. Don Newell produces that show, and he had been standing in the corridor of her apartment at the time.
