Clark Howat

Clark Howat was an American actor whose work spanned film and television. Born in Calaveras County, California, he started on Broadway in 1947 with The Wanhope Building, playing the Interviewer and the Pilot. That year he made his film debut in Miracle on 34th Street, and his early movie parts were mostly uncredited or supporting. Later film credits included The Doctor and the Girl, Customs Agent and Airport. On television from 1952 he appeared in Beulah as Pete Bradley, and in 1956 he led the short-lived sitcom The Adventures of Dr. Fu Manchu as Dr. Jack Petrie. His television work took him to Dragnet, Leave It to Beaver and Alfred Hitchcock Presents. In 1962 he wrote an episode of The Detectives called Walk a Crooked Line. His film roles included Sheriff Cole in Billy Jack (1971), the Government Agent in The Hitch-Hiker (1953) and Maj. Bergen in The Giant Claw (1957). He retired in 1985 after appearing on T.J. Hooker.
