Plot summary
Adèle has known little but misfortune, and on a night in Paris she stands on a bridge over the Seine ready to end her life. Gabor, a knife thrower, stops her with a proposition: he needs a woman to stand against his board while he throws. She has nothing to lose and no other place to go, so she takes the job. The pair travel south along the Mediterranean coast, through Monaco and into Italy, performing their act on stages and on a cruise ship. Working together, they draw crowds, and their luck holds while they are together, in the act and away from it.
